Mother Mother

So first off, I would like to say that I'm back from my month long sabbatical from GamePlan. I was attempting a writing competition, which regrettably I was unable to complete, but It was worth a shot, and I'm sure I can do it next year.

Note from the Editor:
Welcome back Joel! It was a long month.. and I was starting to wonder when we would see your new Barnhart Blog Logo! Looks kick ass! Nuff Said.

J: So anyway, right near the beginning of April, my friend asked me if I'd be interested in going to see Mother Mother with her at L3. Mother Mother is a 5 piece band out of Vancouver, BC, and they were touring in support of their third album Eureka, which was released on March 15th of this
year. The show was opened by Mrs Johnson, who were fantastic. Whale Tooth, a pop/rock band from Toronto played next and were also fantastic. Mother Mother played last, and I'm not going to lie, I'd only heard two songs of theirs prior to going to the show, so I didn't know what exactly to expect, and was totally blown away.

Mother Mother consists of Ryan Guldemond on guitar and vocals, Molly Guldemond on keyboard and vocals, Jasmin Parkin, also on keyboard and vocals, Ali Siadat on drums and Jeremy Page on bass. They remind me a bit of bands like The Pixies, Modest Mouse and the Flaming Lips, with a bit of New Wave thrown in for good measure.

They're a supremely talented band; and I highly recommend checking them out if you aren't familiar with them already. Great lyrics, great vocals and great instrumentals.

You check them out on the link below.
